The CNR-IRET recently participated in two key international conferences, EcoDL 2025 (held in Tampere) and Living Data 2025 (held in Bogotá), to present the developments of the ITINERIS terminology service, where it generated considerable interest. The service, which is realized within Work Package 2 of the project and will soon be available on the ITINERIS HUB, is designed to strengthen semantic interoperability among the research infrastructures involved in ITINERIS and more broadly in the environmental domain. It enables the federated search of semantic artefacts distributed across various catalogues and the execution of alignments between semantic artefacts, thereby enhancing intra- and cross-domain interoperability.
The open-source nature of the terminology service allows it to be extended and/or adapted to other scientific domains and integrated into different management systems, significantly improving the integration and reuse of data across different scientific domains.
The EcoDL 2025 poster, titled “A Terminology Service to empower semantic interoperability in environmental sciences”, is available on Zenodo: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17161089.
