Another ITINERIS training course in the atmospheric domain (WP4) successfully concluded in Potenza from the 28th to the 30th of January 2025.
The training focused on “Atmospheric composition data exploitation”.
The course was held in hybrid mode and involved 17 physical and 13 remote participants. Thanks to the participation of highly qualified teachers from ICOS, ACTRIS, WMO, EUMETSAT, ESA, ECMWF and MEEO, the students had the chance to explore the atmospheric observation from three perspectives: ground-based observations, atmospheric models and satellite observation.
The students could also explore the most important tools used in the atmospheric data observation through three practical case studies: the Saharan dust event during the spring 2024, the 2023 Canadian wildfires and the Nord Stream methane leak in 2022.
Through these three case studies, the students touched with their hands the challenges and the tasks that RI researchers will need to address in the upcoming future.
